Jim Savage graduated from Oak Ridge Military Institute in 1962 and the Junior College in 1964. He grew up in Winston-Salem and still lives there today with his wife, Kay of 44 years, and their two cats, Magnolia and Norman. For most of his career, Savage worked at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, holding a variety of positions during his 34 years there. He also served in the US Army Reserves and retired as a Major after 23 years of service. During his retirement, Savage has dedicated a lot of time to ORMA, serving as a Trustee for 8 years and as Chairman of the Board for five years. In 2016, he stepped down from Chairman of the Board to Vice Chairman, and now he serves as a board member. He also founded the Museum & Archives at ORMA, a nationally recognized museum located inside Alumni Hall, (tours available upon appointment).
