This one credit, yearlong course is an introduction to the field of robotics for middle school and high school Cadets. The goal is for students to learn the basics of creating and programming robots. Students will design and build robots to perform various specialized functions. As part of this process, students will learn the elements of computer programming: flow charts, functions, and debugging. The course will provide a wide variety of case studies of actual robots used in today's world. Field trips to view robot installations, video studies of robotic activities, and robot demonstrations at Oak Ridge will be part of the course. The course includes topics from science and mathematics, and helps prepare Cadets for active involvement in a technology-driven world.
