Welcome! When
you begin the process of searching
and, hopefully, placing your student
in a private school there are three
questions you, as a parent, need to
ask yourself:
1.
What does my child really need in a
school? 2.
Will my son / daughter adjust well
in a boarding school environment or
would a day school environment be better?
3.
What level of academic challenge does
my child need? We
are very fortunate to have in the United
States thousands of very fine private
schools. Oak Ridge Military Academy
is among that group. Oak Ridge celebrates,
through the successes of her cadets,
being one of the highest ranked military
schools in the world. That position
is perishable, however, so we as an
Academy strive every day to help our
rising graduates achieve the highest
level their abilities can reach. An
example of that might be that ALL (100%)
of our graduates are accepted into
a college or university. So
let's go back and try to answer the
three questions put forth as they would
pertain to Oak Ridge Military Academy.
What
does my child really need in a school?
People
in general have many different varying
needs. Oak Ridge offers a highly structured
environment. As an institution we demand
that each student do what they should
do, such as going to class, doing homework
and turning it in, keeping their uniform
neatly pressed and shining "their" shoes, and polishing "their" brass.
Will
my son / daughter adjust well in a
boarding school environment? Although
we offer both boarding and day school,
the environments are quite similar.
In a "nut shell," we expect our students to be organized. We require each cadet, whether a boarder
or day student, to be on time and follow
through with the directions given to
them. Being irresponsible or "tardy" is not an option afforded to our cadets.
What
level of academic challenge does your
child need? Simply
put, as a school our academic standards
are very high and quite demanding.
We will take students that have had
bad grades in the past; but, we need
to know if they are capable of one
day doing college work. Over the years,
we have found that students below "B" grades are doing poorly because they have not been doing homework and have not
been personally responsible. In
summary, if you are looking for a school
with lots of structure and if you are
seeking an environment where your son
or daughter is required to exercise
self-discipline and personal responsibility,
then our Academy is perhaps your best
choice. We
invite you to come and to visit and
to see for yourself why we have boasted
for over 150 years as being the best
co-educational military school on the
planet. Sincerely, Jad
Davis Director
of Admissions
