Welcome to the website of the “Official Military School of the North Carolina”. Since 1852, Oak Ridge Military Academy has existed to provide an education preparing young men and women for college and a life-time of meaningful service to others. Framed within the structured life of the JROTC, we have a combined co-ed student body of boarding and day students, including a wide variety of international students.

We believe, as a military school, we can provide uncommon and important opportunities for our Cadets to grow. Unlike many schools which teach leadership courses in classroom settings, we have the opportunity to teach leadership which is actually experienced. It is demonstrated within the Cadet life of our campus.

In addition to leadership training, our school’s military structure seeks to provide the four keys to becoming a successful student:

 

 

• Self-Control – through the regimented life of a Cadet, our school trains young people the disciplined life: from a well-ordered room to a well-ordered mind;
• Humility – Proud people can’t learn. Humble people listen and learn. The military  teaches proper respect for authorities, which allows for an accurate assessment of life and personal growth;
• Curiosity – all children are curious and want to learn. As a school we strive to inspire a desire to exceed the “what” of knowledge with the “why” of wisdom.
• Acquiring personal skills to match the challenges of life – The classroom, the mess hall, the athletic fields of competition, and the military training are all areas which are comprehensively considered in training our Cadets to successfully meet the challenges of life.

Our campus is situated on 100 beautiful acres in the Triad area of North Carolina. In addition to serving families within driving distance of Virginia, South Carolina, and Georgia, we are also less than 10 minutes from a major airport, Piedmont Triad International Airport, allowing families from across the country to arrive and depart our area without additional travel.
