Dear
Parent or Guardian:
I
would like to thank you for enrolling
your child at Oak Ridge Military Academy
(ORMA). Founded in 1852, ORMA is the
third-oldest military prep school in
the nation, and in 1899 it became the
first high school in North Carolina to
be accredited by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools (SACS). In 1972
Oak Ridge became the first military high
school to accept female cadets. Today
ORMA is a coed, college-preparatory boarding
and day school with a long and proud
tradition of preparing students for success
in college and beyond. As the Academic
Dean I am responsible for ensuring that
your child receives a quality college-preparatory
education. We offer small class sizes,
help classes, and a safe and structured
learning environment. To fulfill our
academic mission, the Registrar and I
need to establish your child as a student
at ORMA. It would be helpful if you would
supply our office with a complete record
of your child’s academic history. This
includes access to your child’s complete
academic transcripts and other pertinent academic information, such as any classes your child
may have taken outside the normal academic
curriculum. The academic history should
also include any information from school
counselors, principals, faculty, or other
relevant personnel. By completing the
Official Transcript Release form and
returning it to us in a timely manner,
we can place your child into the appropriate
academic classes.
If
we do not receive all relevant information
concerning your child, such as complete
transcripts, academic recommendations,
etc., then we may have problems in placing
your child into the appropriate academic
classes. It may also necessitate a change
of schedule midway through the first
quarter. Technology plays an important
role in our curriculum. Please review
carefully and sign the ORMA Internet
Usage Agreement. In doing so, you will
ensure that your child receives access
to important sources of information and
research tools that will significantly
enhance their academic experience. We
are excited about having the opportunity
to work with you and your child in ensuring
that their academic career at ORMA is
a successful and rewarding one. If I
may be of any assistance to you or your
child, please do not hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Chris
