Dear Parent or Guardian,

Welcome and thank you for your interest in Oak Ridge Middle School. Our mission is to provide a positive and nurturing learning environment focused on developing the fundamental skills, intellect and imagination of students in order to prepare those students to succeed in a college-preparatory curriculum at the high school level.

Oak Ridge Middle School was established in 2005 to offer families an independent, co-educational, structured, safe, nurturing learning experience for students in Grades 6 to 8. Oak Ridge Middle School is proud to be affiliated with the long-standing excellence of Oak Ridge Military Academy (ORMA). Oak Ridge was established in 1852, and it is the third-oldest military prep school in the nation. ORMA has a proud heritage of preparing students for success in college and beyond. Oak Ridge Military Academy is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and has been accredited longer than any other secondary school in the state of North Carolina, having maintained its accreditation since 1899. Oak Ridge Middle School is governed by the ORMA Board of Trustees and is managed by an administrative team that consists of Dr. Roy Berwick, the President of ORMA; Mr. Chris Royster, the Academic Dean, and Ms. Tiffany Green, the Middle School Principal.

The Middle School staff includes the principal, a three teacher faculty and a Commandant. Four core classes are taught including Language Arts, History, Mathematics and Science. Physical Education is taught daily. Students rotate electives each quarter; the electives offered are Foreign Languages, Art, and Journalism. Class sizes are small and enable teachers to provide each student with individual care to their learning. Numerous activities are planned throughout the year to help emphasize classroom learning with hands-on experiences. Study halls and help classes are offered to help students with homework, studying for tests and completing assignments.
