Laura Tarne, B.S.
History Department
Laura Tarne is a member of the ORMA History Department. A native of Northern
California, she enjoys hiking in the
nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains. Laura attended Auburn University,
where she earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in Secondary Social Studies.
While at Auburn, Laura participated in many activities, among
them playing water polo,
serving as an officer in her sorority,
and volunteering for charity work. She is also an avid swimmer,
and for the 2007-2008 school
year she will be the Head Coach of ORMA’s
swim team. Laura will also be coaching volleyball this year. Before
coming to ORMA Laura
taught World History, Health, and PE
in a public high school in Georgia. Laura teaches Introduction
to History, Western Civilization,
and Journalism. As the Journalism teacher
she is the sponsor of ORMA’s student-created high-school newsletter.
In her spare time
Laura often travels back to California
to see her parents, grandparents, brother, and sister. She also
enjoys the culinary arts, photography,
college football (War Eagle!), the beach, and training for triathlons.
