1SG Sallie McCullough, U.S. Army (Retired).

1SG McCullough is from Horry County, South Carolina. She entered the army in
1973, where she stayed for 24 years.
She completed a thirteen month tour in Korea, three tours in Germany,
five stateside tours, and
was deployed to Bosnia for six months.
During her twenty-four years of service, she served as an administrator
and supervisor of five
dental clinics, logistics supervisor,
vehicle maintenance supervisor, and training and operations supervisor.
She was assigned to The
Academy of Health Science at Fort Sam
Houston, San Antonio, Texas. There 1SG McCullough served as the
Senior Dental Non-commissioned
Officer, teaching over 2000 students
their Primary Military Occupational Specialty. She served as a
member of the Fort Sam Houston Independence
School District Board of Trustees for
two years. During her deployment in Bosnia, she served as the
acting Task Force Med Eagle Command
Sergeant Major, where she advised the
TF Med Eagle Commander on all matters relating to more than 400
enlisted soldiers. She retired from the United States Army on 1 September 1997.
In July 1997 she joined the Oak Ridge Military Academy
staff as a Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Army Instructor.
She teaches LET (Leadership Educational Training) to 50 to 115 ORMA
cadets each year. She is the Supply Noncommissioned Officer; Military
Property Custodian; manager and advisor of the Oak Ridge Color Guard;
and the manager and advisor of the Oak Ridge Drill Team. She also
serves as the coordinator of the Military Ball held each spring
at the academy.
Her awards consist of seven Army Commendation Medals;
three Meritorious Service Medals; two Army Achievement Medals; eight
Good Conduct Medals, three NCO Professional Development Ribbons;
four Overseas Ribbons; and the National Defense, NATO Ribbon.
She completed her Associate of Art Degree from the
University of Maryland in 1990. She completed the Primary Development
Leadership Course at Ft. Bragg in July 1977; Dental Hygiene Course
in December 1977; Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership Course
in 1982; the Senior NCO Command and Staff Course in December 1982;
Battalion Training Management System Course in March 1984; the Investment
in Excellence Course in August 1986; the Dental Clinic Practice
Management Course in December 1988; and the Faculty/Instructor Development
Course in March 1990 at The Academy Of Health Science.
