Marie D. Conner, B.S., M.Ed

Marie
Conner originally hails from Farmington,
Connecticut. She came to North Carolina
in 1994 to study at Guilford College
in Greensboro. While there, she studied
abroad at Oxford, England, and was a
member of the Honors Program, the Guilford
College Scholarship Society, the Student
Senate, and the Community of Writers.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in English
and Psychology in 1998, graduating with
High Honors and Departmental Honors.
She began teaching at ORMA in June of
1998. While still employed at ORMA, she
returned to school to pursue her master’s
degree in Education at the University
of North Carolina at Greensboro. As a
graduate student at UNCG, she presented
a paper on teenage smoking prevention
programs at the American Evaluation Association
2002 Annual Conference in Washington,
D.C. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA in
May of 2003.
In
her years at ORMA, Marie has taught seventh
and eighth grade English, Introduction
to Literature, American Literature, Advanced
Composition, Composition II, and courses
in Psychology and Word Processing. From
2002-2005 she was the Chair of the English
Department. In August 2006, Marie became
the Director of ORMA’s expanded Writing
Program. She currently teaches Advanced
Composition, American Literature, and
Honors American Literature. In her spare
time, Marie enjoys reading, exercising,
watching sports (especially her beloved
Tampa Bay Buccaneers!), participating
in church activities, and spending time
with her husband, Bud, her children,
Faith and Grant, and her three dogs.
