Ken Dobbins, B.S., M.S.
Librarian
Ken
has been the Librarian at Oak Ridge
Military Academy since the summer of
1997. Ken earned his Bachelor of Science
degree in Electrical Engineering from
the University of Arizona in 1976 and,
upon graduation, was commissioned a
Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
He served with distinction in the Army
until his retirement as Major in 1994.
He then moved to Greensboro, North
Carolina and earned his Master of Library
and Information Studies from the University
of North Carolina at Greensboro in
1997. He has been married to his wife,
Barbera, since 1987 and has three children
(Benjamin, Gabriel, and Amanda). He
is currently the chess club sponsor
and his hobbies include reading, chess
and sports activities with his family.
He is an active member of the American
Library Association, The American Association
of School Librarians, and the North
Carolina School Library Media Association.
Ken’s mission as the librarian is to provide library resources and services to
implement, enrich, and support the curriculum
of Oak Ridge Military Academy and to
meet the educational, emotional, and
recreational needs of the ORMA family.
